[Listen, Download & Hope] What Gives Us Hope - Frontier Ruckus

[Sounds like: The Tallest Man On Earth, The Wood Brothers, The Avett Brothers]

I’m a huge fan of those local bands that you’ve never heard of and then once you hear one of their songs you stop everything and ask, “where have I been?” Well I remember Hobbs having one of those moments with Fitz and the Tantrums, and I can say that I just had mine with Frontier Ruckus.

This four-man band from Michigan will blow your minds with their genius mixture of instruments that flow perfectly. The band puts themselves in the “hyper-experiential minutia-obsessed memorialism” genre, which is fittingly broad. You don’t know what to expect from a band like Frontier Ruckus, who with one song can have you sink in your seat comfortably relaxed, and then just three minutes later, have you cutting the rug shamelessly.* These guys have it figured out, and I can only hope that they keep doing what they’re doing and continue creating such great music. They have the talent, the energy, and what seems to be the attitude that keeps our hopes high for music, which is getting torn down by “artists” like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga.

And luckily, Frontier Ruckus is just about to hit the road for an eleven show summer tour, so be sure to check them out if they play somewhere near you. You can also check out facebook and twitter to keep up with the band. Enjoy.
